TV5 MONDE

TV5 started in January 1984, and was under the management of Serge Adda until November 2004; the new director, named on April 6, 2005 is Jean-Jacques Aillagon, former French Minister for Culture and Communication. The present Director-General is Marie-Christine Saragosse.

In 2006, TV5 underwent a major overhaul that saw the channel being re-branded as 'TV5MONDE' to stress its focus as a global network. Also part of the changes are a new schedule and new program line-up. Since 2001, 'TV5 Monde' is part of the channel's corporate name. Its Canadian operations are still branded "TV5", however.

TV5MONDE is the first most available global television network available around the world ahead of CNN and MTV.

TV5 Monde is available in most arabic countries including Kuwait and viewers can watch French films with Arabic subtitles. It's a good way to improve your listening skills, increase your vocabulary and know more about French culture.

  1. As every day I keep watching tv5 because it’s really interesting and I get a lots of benefit while I watch the tv5, it has never been ever a waste of time, today I saw a program that was very nice, I would like to talk about it. The program was about the chine’s life style, most of them eating the sea food, its its very healthy and by the way it’s not expensive at all in their country not like the other countries, their country is famous in the different kind of tea, the Chinese tea has a lots of kinds, some are for losing weight and others are for having a fast digestion etc .. one thing I notices from the program that I sow in the tv5, that the noodles and the rice is very important the Chinese people meal, because it contain a lots fibers that give power to compensate the life work of the day, one of the thing that I noticed about them that they are very tidy people and they have a lots of population, so that they are not allowed to bring more than to kids in each family. Tv5 is very interesting Chanel I will never stop watching the tv5 channel. :)

  3. Bonjour monsieur Joseph,

Few days ago, I started recording TV5MONDE for this extra credit assignment instead of watching it life, so that I can reply some of the parts that I do not understand. I recorded a very interesting program about Tunisia. When it first started, it started with four people sitting around a round table. I thought that they were talking about a ship that sank, but then I realized that they were encouraging the French people to go and see how beautiful Tunisia is. First, they showed us beautiful images of the farms, then they showed us the wonderful beaches, and finally they introduced us to the Tunisian people. We saw them while they were farming, while they were diving to get the "murjan," and while they were having a break. They showed us a small part of a Tunisian movie where the Tunisian people were running to see a French movie star who was visiting Tunis.

  4. Today at 8:57pm, I was watching ‘TV5 MODE’. There was a French film, which seems that it started a long ago (as it seems). From what I have understood from that scene was a young girl just came from school and it looks like her parents and few friends or (employees) own a fur coat business. Though the actors and actress were talking fast, I managed to understand some of the dialogue.

During the film, I also understood a conversation between a group of men at some café or restaurant. They were talking about how when or if they became rich they will be able to work. Sadly the film ended by the death (cause by sickness) to one of the main male characters in the film.

  5. FRENCH102
